Portbahn can sleep 8 people in 3 bedrooms

Situated along the shoreline of Loch Indaal, Portbahn is a modern, well insulated house. The main living areas are open plan, airy and with wide sea views. There are 3 bedrooms (2 with sea views) all on the ground floor, the king bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and there is a family bathroom, and an additional toilet upstairs.

There is Wi-fi throughout, a TV & Freesat box, a DVD player with a large selection of DVDs, as well as  plenty of books & games. A log burning stove and underfloor heating throughout makes winter stays very cosy.

There is a large, private garden with uninterrupted breathtaking views across the loch, and ample car parking within the property grounds is available for guests.

• Bed linen and bath towels are provided but not beach towels, or towels for dogs.
• We welcome guest with dogs to stay at Portbahn so please be aware if you have allergies.  We charge £25 per dog per stay.

Morning Coffee and a Bacon Roll

Please go see Aileen at the Mini-market in Bruichladdich for a great coffee and rolls and sandwiches, she's open 9am - 6pm.

Getting to Islay

If you plan to come by car please make sure you have booked a passage with Calmac from Kennacraig to either, Port Askaig or Port Ellen (both ports are half an hour from the house or thereabouts).  We cannot be held responsible and will not give refunds to people who don't book a sailing.  Please note that you can not leave it to chance and expect to get a space on a ferry without booking in advance. 

It is also important that you have travel insurance. If the ferry does not sail due to bad weather or technical issues we do not give refunds as the decision not to sail is beyond our control. We will help wherever possible with your insurance claim.

RING Doorbell
We have WiFi Ring doorbells in our properties, pointing outward at the driveway. The camera in the doorbell records, is motion-activated & operates 24/7. There are NO cameras inside the property. 

Outside Room
There is a self contained outdoor room by the garage at Portbahn. On the very rare occasion that we (or you, our guests) might get stuck we will get in contact with you to say that we will be using this room for the night.  It is totally separate from the house and would not disturb you in the house in any way.
