Situated along the shoreline of Loch Indaal, Shorefield is a well insulated eco-house with its own wind and solar power.

• Bed linen and bath towels are provided (not beach or dog towels)
• As dogs are welcome at Shorefield, please be aware if you have allergies, there is a charge of £15 per dog per stay
• There is a washing machine, dryer but no dishwasher at Shorefield.

Booking Policy

Please note getting to Islay is your responsibility!

If coming by car please make sure you have booked yourself onto a ferry with www.calmac.co.uk from Kennacraig to either Port Askaig or Port Ellen (both ports half an hour from the house). We cannot be held responsible and will not give refunds, to people who don't reserve a space and turn up at the port and then can't get on the ferry, or for those that miss the ferry (please make sure you leave plenty of time and check in half an hour before the ferry leaves).

It is also imperative that you have travel insurance incase the ferry does not sail due to bad weather or technical issues. You can then claim on your insurance. Tesco has been recommended as good travel insurance apparently (no affiliation - this is just who guests use).  We do not give refunds for any of these issues.

We have WiFi Ring doorbells in our properties, pointing outward at the  driveway. The camera in the doorbell records and is motion-activated & operates 24/7. There are NO cameras inside the property.

The house: Shorefield is owned by an elderly couple who no longer live on Islay.  We look after the house for them.  It is not a modern house and there are parts of it that look a bit tired now.

It has been recently painted inside and out and we are constantly trying to improve it.  All the mattresses, linen and towels are new and supplied from the hotel supplier Mitre Linen.  If you prefer a more modern house and interior then please think about booking our other house Portbahn.

The house is a big hit with guests (please read our review) who say it's quaintness and quirkiness is what gives it charm, and the owners have left a lot of their books, paintings, maps and antiques for people to enjoy.  There is history and stories in this house, the owners are great bird lovers this is reflected all around and they built the bird reserves behind the house.  Enjoy!
